  1. First of all, one of the most important reasons about my fondness for the movie, “Life of Pi”, is that I am really crazy about animals, and I am having a 4-months-old dog now, in Toronto, even though I have just came here for 5 months. I just can’t help myself loving animals. I was moved by the tiger’s companionship, even though the tiger was not very friendly at the beginning. However, we can’t expect a tiger will be as tame as a dog. I believe that sometimes, animals’ emotional intelligence is much higher than people. Mentioning of what I don’t like about this movie, I have to say I don’t like Pi’s father who is bossy and bad-tempered, and he used very improper way by giving a lamb to the tiger, so that he was able to prove to Pi that the tiger is always dangerous. Whatever, it is really an outstanding movie which connects to belief, animals and family affection.

    1. I agree with your opinion. In some extreme cases, animals are as frustrated as human beings. In pi's case, you cannot imagine: how Pi lives under the menace of the tiger. I have the same feeling as you do. Now, my question is: if you were Pi, faced the situation as he does, what were you going to do?

    2. Ya, so do I. I love animals too!I agree with you that Pi's father used too cruel way to show that the tiger is dangerous. I don't think he has a love for animal as much as Pi does. One thing, I don't think the movie shows that much of family affection...

  2. To be honest, I think this is magic story.
Firstly, I cannot believe that a human could live with tiger are adrift in a lifeboat. By the other hand, a teenager. He want to survival. I think he first step is kill tiger because the tiger is only one menace on the sea.
Secondly, he didn’t any experience for life alone. I am no sure he can, even with a tiger.it is really crazy thing.
Thirdly, I think second story almost truth in real life. he colored it with the fantastic story of the animals to preserve his faith in people... himself... and faith. the second story is so painfully, woefully disappointing that it makes being trapped on a boat with a wild animal and your life at stake every moment of every day more palatable than what he actually had to face.

    1. Johnny, if you were in Pi's situation, will you kill the tiger or stick together and help each other in difficulties? In my opinion, Pi was lucky, because his companion was a tiger, instead of a human-being. I am not sure if you have watched the movie called, " The Hunger Games", and if you know that movie, you will know that when such an insurmountable obstacle comes, the survival instinct of human-beings is killing each other. thus, i prefer to not to kill the tiger, because companionship is the only left vague hope when we are in desperate conditions.

    2. Jonny, your ideas and logics are totally true. IF I were Pi, the first thing I was going to do is to kill the tiger because it was threatening my life. By the way, the small island is a mystery. And my question is: since Pi described two editions of his story, which on do you prefer?

    3. I agree with you that this story seems like a magic. It could be a crazy thing to imagine a boy accompaning a tiger, especially ferocious, man-eating Bengal tiger. But, I think when we become a friend with any animal, we could share a similar feelings as we share with humans. Perhaps, more true and sincere feelings.

  3. what I like about Life of Pi: In this movie, the teenager Pi, proves us a truth: cruel animals, like tigers, not only people's enemies, but also human's partners in extreme cases. Animals cannot be treated only in cages. Moreover, on the island, a human tooth is an excellent foreshadowing of Pi's departure. This human tooth means: leaving, or die on this island.
What I don not like: the Japanese journalists are rude. Their tones and questions make me suspect the sense of reality of Pi's story. Pi's explanations about his born background in India have nothing to do with his surviving in the ocean.

    1. I agree with you extremely that animals are our friend, and that's the reason why i like animals too much. i will share my own experience to prove animals' loyalty. Once, I cried at home, and my dog that is very naughty in daily life walked to me, sat beside me, and tried to lick my tears away. i was moved, because before, when i met troubles, i got comforts from parents and friends, and i can't imagine one day, i got such timely comfort from my dog. Of course, i underestimated my dog before, and he is not only lovely, but also able to have emotional communication with me. last, i wonder whether you will kill the tiger or not, if you were in Pi's situation.

    2. I agree that the animal like a tiger is not always our enemy. I also don't like how Japanese journalists interview him because he doesn't seem to really understand his feeling even when he's crying.

  4. I think this is a good story. The story is very interesting and exciting. But I can’t believe the story. I think this is a fake story. A young man can’t live with a tiger. If I am pie, I can kill the tiger. Cause tiger is danger and it isn’t friendly with people. They live a lifeboat and I think nobody can with a tiger in a lifeboat for many days. Sea is very large. A young man and a animal want has a good life is very difficult. They food and water aren’t enough, but they are still alive. The story has more doubtful points. I like this queer story. Although is a fake story.

    1. I think your thought is reasonable of killing the tiger instead of living with it, but i have a question, do you think Pi will get more and more desperate without the tiger's companionship? moreover, in my opinion, human-beings have unexpected will power, and it is possible for us living on the sea for such a long period, just like what Pi did.

    2. Your opinions are true. Have you thought about this: If the tiger was already full, was he going to threaten you? You did notice a point: on the island, how come the tiger didn't eat Pi? Because tiger knew there was enough food. Remember, tigers are not always evil. Animals have emotions as human beings do.

    3. It's true that it is very hard to imagine that human is living with a tiger. Yes, Pi would have just killed it and so would I but such a carnivorous animal like a tiger was something important to keep Pi himself alarmed and awaken through all his dangerous journey. Without a tiger, he couldn't be strong and wise enough to survive this tough, disastrous time all by himself.

  5. After watching the movie, I got to understand the story better. The story seems like a real story in the book but I knew that it’s a mix of fantasy after seeing the movie. I pretty like the story especially the personality of the main character Pi. He has a good and warm nature of loving everything that has a life and spirit, even a ferocious tiger. From he’s very young age, he seems to be a deep and mature thinker because it’s hard for many young boys to be interested in such things like religion and god. Even when his stubborn father disagrees with his thought, he doesn’t give up holding onto his belief in god. A thing which I don’t like is that the narrator is bit subjective about other religions such as Christianity. As a Christian, I wasn’t too pleased to hear when Pi saying “it makes no sense” when he’s talking about the sacrifice of Jesus for Humans’ sin. But, overall, it was a deep story that taught me the importance of the companionship and perseverance.

    1. i agree with you so much, and i like Pi's characteristics, too. it really needs considerable courage to get over such an insurmountable difficulty, and i am not sure if i am able to conquer it, if i were in Pi's situation.moreover, as a girl, even though i am a sporting-girl, it will become more and more challenging, because we can't easily flip over a boat for countless times.
