  1. Most Important lessons in my life.

Throughout my life, I attended to variety of schools in two countries. During elementary school, I went to Dae-Chung Elementary school in Daegu. I met a lot of friends and learned variety of lessons from teachers. When I think about the memory that I had in this elementary school, there is one teacher that reminds me the most. He was my grade 3 teacher, whom planted a dream in my heart. Just before I graduate from the school, he told me about his life story. He told me that he really regret about his teenage time. And then, he told me that I should choose the job that I like. He also shared, to find my own passion during Junior and Senior High School. So I learned the lesson, how to find my passion in my life, when I was graduating elementary school.

When I turned into the Dae Ryun Junior High School, I met this teacher, who was in charge of our class. She often told us to be honest with everyone, especially to each other. At first, I laughed at her (silently), but when I became older, I was able to realize her lesson. And the end, I came up with this conclusion, which I should be honest to myself and to everyone, to gain faith from others, because if I don't have faith from other people, I won't be able to survive in this society. I'm still learning lessons from teachers in Canada, however I have faced too much harsh with other teachers that I met. On the other hand, I'm sure that I would learn something important in the Urban International High School's ENG 4U class. :)

  2. Expecting Lessons

I have sacrificed half of my summer time, to earn my English credit. When I first started my class, I told myself that I would get easy marks than my public school. However I thought again, claimed that I was abusing myself with wrong thoughts. And I came up with this conclusion, that I would make lots of good friends in the class, and discuss about our life. In that conversation, we could find something in common, and difference. If someone is facing a harsh time in Canada, I might and I could help them. Therefore, In this class, I'm expecting to learn communication skills, and to listen someone's life story.

  3. Benefit in the Future?

I started to have faith in me, that I will learn so much, which will benefit my future. To be honest with everyone, there are seven people in the class, including teacher and me. I have not yet talked to them much, however, I'm sure that they are really nice people. Being a friend with this people will benefit my future, and I will have another opportunity to talk to friends from different countries. Also, I have met our teacher, Sherry, and she is awesome. She helped me out with the ISU last semester and it did really help me with it. Therefore, I have solid faith that I would learn so much from her.

  4. Mentioning of the most important lesson in my life till now, I think the last day when I attended classes in my previous school which is located in China is memorable. I still remember on that day, all of teachers and classmates were informed that I am going to Canada to finish further study, and the atmosphere suddenly became strange in the classroom, which I tried to avoid before by keeping my further plan as a temporary secret, because I really don't know how to say farewell to them. Until now, I still often think of them. Thus, for me, I didn't learn any academic knowledge which will help me to get better marks, but it is still important, because I felt deeply that there are too many people are caring about me, and I should try my best, so that I will not let them down.
In this course, I will focus on improve my speaking and writing parts since these are my disadvantages. Also, one short article one day is good for widen vocabulary.
As English is everything's foundation, and all the textbooks are in English. Of course this will help me improve my English, which will also help me to adapt Canadian life well, and my other courses as well indirectly.

  5. For the time in high school, besides knowledge, friends, skills, the most important lesson that I have learned is how to behave appropriately. Because there are too many people with whom I have to deal, in my life and every single of them is different from the others. As a result, I cannot treat everyone in the same way. However, it is not easy to know what I am supposed to behave toward different kinds of people. Fortunately, school has done a good thing by showing me the solution for such problem, for instance, they have taught me that I have to respect all the people around me, especially for my family and friends, I have to love them too.

As this course’s name, English, I expected that it would help me improve my overall English, especially speaking skill. I think that is the worst one any need to be improved as much as possible. I also wanted to study English literature more and figure out the similarities and differences between it and Vietnamese literature.

One obvious advantage that I can take from this course is good English skills that play important roles in my life. And of course, knowledge in English literature, too like my desire because in my opinion, learning English is not only its grammar, neologisms but how beautiful it is in terms of literature.

  6. I think the most important lessons that I have learned in school throughout my life is that Early Childhood Education program. I took an Early Childhood Education (ECE) program in George Brown College. There are several reasons why the course is important lessons to me. First, taking ECE program is one of my dreams, so my dream has finally come true. When I was a high-school student, I always thought about ECE program and tried to study in my high-school to take ECE program in college. Thus, when I took the program, I was so exciting. Second, I could learn about children in different ways in the college. I learned about psychology, culture, development, play, and physical of children in an ECE program. Finally, I have had experience working at the daycare centres in Canada. I took field placement course while I took an ECE program. First field placement was difficult because I could not speak English well and it was different between theory and practice. However, I enjoyed in the field placement. While I took the course, I could learn about children in practice.
I was expecting to learn from an ECE course that I would like to learn about children in different way. For example, I was expecting that I can learn about psychology, culture, development, play, and physical of children. Likewise, George Brown College taught me what I expected to learn about children from the course.
ECE course might benefit me in the future that it will be helpful to take a child studies in York University. Because an Early Childhood Education course are similar to a child studies course. In addition, ECE course will be helpful to teach children when I work in a kindergarten or day care centre.

  7. Most of the inspirations and tribulations I had in my life so far have occured after I came to Canada. I spent my childhood in Beijing, learning in primary school and then middle school with my parents along my side. Though I never was the perfect student, I had a pretty good time. Since my education places since primary school had been boarding schools, I was able to take care of myself pretty well. But after I came to Canada, my attitudes towards people had undergone a change. In Chine, I was a relatively laid-back, sloppy even, kind of person. I divided my likes and dislikes clearly. However, when I came here my naivity led to changes in friends and relations. I started to realize that friends will not support and enlighten you unconditionally. The set-back in social relationship caused me to be very emotional the first semester I had in Canada. In addition, I find it difficult to adapt to the teaching mode of this side of the world. Perhaps through those difficulties I face I started to understand the way of world slowly. I remember I did a lot of stupid things including having unpleasant and heated conversation with my mother back when I was in middle school. But now, my behaviours make my mother consider going aboard extremely worthy. One year of experience aboard can teach one as much as three years of the same in the country. Gradually I started to have a change of mind, going towards a direction which is peaceful and not as extreme as it used to be. From time to time I contact my middle school teacher, who is able to give me some good advice. The second half of the semester will be my busiest period of time. The language issue is still a high barrier for me. I hope this course can change my somewhat negative attitude towards English learning and allow my English skill to take a leap even in only a month's time.
